Seattle gets rain for about 150 days a year — but actually less total rainfall than New York or Miami. It just drizzles gently instead of pouring.
Boeing, the company that makes most of the world's aeroplanes, was founded in Seattle in 1916. Some Boeing factories here are the largest buildings in the world.
Amazon, Microsoft, and Starbucks all started in the Seattle area. It's one of the most important tech cities on Earth.
The Cascades mountain range nearby has several active volcanoes. Mount St. Helens erupted as recently as 1980 — blowing off the whole top of the mountain!
Bald eagles (the US national bird) are common around Seattle — you can often spot them flying over the water.
Seattle is the birthplace of grunge music and the home of famous musicians like Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain.
