Energy is what lets things move, glow, get hot, make sound, or grow. Without it, the universe would freeze still. With it, everything is alive โ wind blowing, hearts beating, plants stretching toward the Sun.
You can't see energy directly, but you can spot it by what it does.
This is one of the deepest rules in all of physics: energy can never be created or destroyed. It just changes from one form to another.
Watch the swing. At the top, it has lots of stored energy (high up, ready to fall). At the bottom, all that becomes movement energy (going fast). Then it climbs the other side, slowing down โ movement becomes stored again. Same total amount, different costume.
The food you eat has chemical energy stored inside. Your body breaks it down โ turning some into movement (so you can run), some into heat (so you stay warm), some into sound (when you laugh).
That food came from plants. Plants used sunlight to grow. So sunlight โ plant โ you โ run. The Sun is the source of nearly every move you make.
Stars burn it. Plants store it. Animals use it. Wind, rain, motion, music, life โ all of it is energy moving from one form to another, never made, never lost.
Right now you have energy in your muscles, in your warmth, in your thoughts. You are a tiny blossom of sunshine.
